Wristcutters. A love story. 2006. 8/10
Written and directed by Goran Dukić.
A black romantic comedy about suicide. Nice story with some funny moments, everything you'd expect in a rom-com.
Probably wouldn't watch it again, but for a change of pace it was worth it.

 Wer. 2013 3/10
A huge bloke is charged with murder.
Interesting plot that failed get going, similar final act to the Nicholson, Spader film Wolf (1994). Hit the fast-forward button at the 37min mark and didn't stop till the end.
The film can mostly be seen in the trailer, in fact, after just watching it again, this is a classic example of a 'preview' showing the whole fim.
(Spoiler) Bloke shaving his head has final fight with werewolf, is bloke with glasses on, gets bit at start.
Ready player one. 2018. Garbage.
Virtual reality with a load 'green screen'.
The 'flatmate' decided we needed to "watch a movie together." I'd downloaded this for someone else. I lasted 40 mins and got bored, by 55 i was real angry about wasting my time, so i left the room. I flicked to Kubrick tribute on my laptop, lasted 2 seconds, couldn't be bothered. She came to see if i wanted to watch The Shinning part. She got a flat no.

Mourning grave. South Korea. 9/10
A young bloke whose sees ghosts has to confront a grudge.
It has a really good and effective drama plot with elements of horror. The 'ghosts' are what you expect in a asian horror and there was a scene that reminded me The Wailing, another S.K. stunner. Everything came together nicely at the end. Can't fault it.
Villmark 2. (Wilderness 2) 2015. Norway. 7.5
Five contract workers take on a job of tracking hazardous waste in an old sanatorium before demolishing.
I haven't watched the first one which a group of people go to remote cabin. This time is a clean up crew in a abandonded hospital.
The plot was...just really not there, but, ironicly, it established a creepy atmosphere early on and just slowly cranked it up. It used cameras set up to detect motion and noises/sounds repeatedly to create a real sense of dread.

The Vengeance Trilogy. Dir. Park Chan Wook. South Korea.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) 6/10
 Oldboy (2003) 10/10
 Lady Vengeance (2005) 8/10
The first was a little slow for the first half then the story started to fall into place and the 'revenge' aspect kicked in split equally between two of the characters.

Oldboy iv seen twice already, it didn't really need much thought, you follow the main bloke while he figures out why he was imprisoned.
Absolute garbage remake. 0 out of fucken 10 for that one.

The third one had alot of flashbacks at the start and kinda slowed down near the end. But was similar to the first in that you really had to watch what was presented.

Don't breath. 2016. 6/10 Three burglers break into a blind mans house.
 Spoiler alert.
When i read the reviews of this movie and saw the trailer, one thing was mentioned, 'there's a twist.' Instantly i thought, the blind guy will have a woman hostage. Sure enough. I was right. 45 mins in, and i reached for the remote. The tension was great at the start, the errie silence was awesome. But there seemed to be a whole bunch of things that were 'highlighted'. The dog while the were looking at the house, cue the dog at the end. The hammer when they first entered, the young guy and the hammer at the end. The gun under the bed, cue getting the gun when he runs out of bullets in the burglers one. Ugh-FUCK!!
It was a good movie, but it just ran out steam. I was going to watch A quiet place, but im already of the opinion that it borrows alot from this film.

Kinda shit having to read subtitles in order to watch, what i believe, is a decent film, but corprate studios seem to be getting more overseas filmakers to try and dress up the garbage there serving to the masses to get there money.
 Fede Alvarez. Evil dead. Uruguay.
 Roar Uthaug. Tomb raider. Norway
Taika Waititi. Thor 3. (What we do in the shadows series) New Zealand.
 J. A. Bayona. Jurrasic Kingdom. Spain.
