The blacksmith and the devil.  2018.
8/10
Based a fable and made into a decent movie.
The version i got was off Netflix so even thou the trailer has subtitles the netflix one doesn't, it's overdubbed with using american actors.
Kinda draft, but it does mean you can focus a bit more on the great scenery. Most of it seemed to be actual sets, except for a few scenes near the end, but that was understandable.
The plot was complex enough to be interesting, not confusing.
Basicly, a blacksmith sells his soul and hold the demon hostage. From there its layers up but kept me interested but not bored.

Carved. The slit mouthed woman. Japan  2007.
6.5/10
A 'evil sprit' story.
Kinda low budget, with a basicly scary woman. The main theme of the film is domestic physical child abuse. The story is well written and explains it self. There aren't any really good scares like some jap horror, but it does have some 'uncomfortable' moments.
Worth a look if you are a fan of asian horror and don't mind subtitles.

Thirst. 2009. Dir. Park Chan Wook. South Korea.8/10
A vampire drama. The first time i tried to watch i fell asleep at the one hour mark, run time is 2hrs, since then iv watched a few other South Korean/asian films. It's a slow burn with the main focus a priest turned vampire. Not a alot of gore or violence, a bunch of people do die, but not overly gruesome. The film has a few layers to it that slowly come to the surface. Not for everyone, but iv seen 7 of his movies now and i would rate them all pretty highly.

The night eats the world. France.3/10A single actor zombie movie. No subtitles. The tension is there is for the first 20+ mins then it becomes a 'how to manage alone' film. By the magical 40 min mark i had the remote in my hand was content to F.F. to the end. The marjority of the film is focused on just the one bloke in a building, but he doesn't make any attempt to go anywhere. Reminded me a 2010 german zombie film, Rammbock. Shorter in length with more characters and also set in a building. The plot was alot better.

Heavy trip. Finland. 2018.10 outta fucking 10!!!The ultimate metal comedy. The plot is simple and kinda predictable, but the humour is really fucken solid which makes the film. I found myself laughing out loud most of the way thru it. If your not a metal fan some of the references will be lost and the music is pure death metal. But the film has enough in it that anyone could be entertained. It was fun to see the T-shirts, the band references, the George 'corpsegrinder' Fisher head-banging style. This is a movie i will re-watch again, and will enjoy.

Hotel Artemis. 2018
2/10
By the look of the trailer i 'thought' it might be low budget action with a decent cast, the idea seems to be taken straight from the John Wick films. A safe house hotel where crims can go.
The J.W. films were diet-light on plot but at least they entertained with alot of action.
Not this. It's really just a drama, and not a very convincing one. Again got to the 45 min mark and hit the FF button.

Don't worry, he won't get far on foot. 2018 Dir. Gus Van Sant
4/10
Bio-pic of a paralyzed cartoonist John Callahanís autobiography. Joaquin Phoenix as John, with Jonah Hill.
Hill is good as the softly spoken AA sponsor and Phoenix as the wheelchair bound cartoonist. I was bored by the 45 min mark and started hitting off the FF button, the bulk of the story was 'John' becoming a cartoonist and his therapy sessions in AA that became a drawn out process.
Last years You Were Never Really Here also produced by Amazon was a much better.
