Welcome to the sticks. 2008. France.
7/10
A lighthearted comedy about a post office manager who wants a transfer south but gets sent north instead. The plot is funny and for the most part revolves around the different way they 'northerners' talk. Being it's subtitled it was hard to read at first, the jokes really do rely on understanding french. As the film progressed it became less about the speech and more the situation with his wife back down south.
Enjoyable and interesting.

The tennants downstairs. Taiwan. 2016.
8/10
A landlord in a set of apartments fucks everyones lives up.
The story is engaging till the end when it gets quite a twisted ending that was still kinda screwy even thou it did set it out nicely.
Overall, the film was pretty creepy and really had me wondering, 'why the fuck is this bloke doing this?' which really acted as the main reason i kept watching. One i would consider watching again.
Nude nuns with big guns. 2010
2/10
Someone gave me  copy of this film years ago, i watched it then and laughed, B-grade nonsense.
I wasn't really in the mood for anything heay duty, so i put it on again. I lasted 20mins before i picked up a drawing i wanted to finish.
The film is cheap, stupid and full of nudity and 'violence'.
Junk film brain rot. I wont be watching it ever again.

The devils eye.
Dir. Ingmar Bergman. 1960
10/10
It wasn't really a 'repeat viewing' kinda film that earned it a full rating, it was the fact that the film was interesting at all times, slow but thoughtful, not too layered and the actors were really good. The trailer describes the film nicely. The 'priest' was also in The seventh seal.
A solid and enjoyable film.

El Crimen Perfecto (A perfect crime.) Spain
9/10
Black comedy about a self absorbed department manager aiming for a top level position.
The only problem i had with the film was getting the subtitles to stay accurately with the dialouge, i keep having to adjust them.
Overall the film was really funny and didn't let up. Iv seen The day of the beast from the same film makers and it to was black comedy but longer and not quite as good.

Piercing. 2018
6/10
A bloke decides to kill a hooker. Things go wrong.
That is pretty much the whole plot of the film, but the script is based on a novel by the Japanese writer who also wrote Audition.
It's interesting and still retains a 'asian horror' feel to it, but even with a run time of 80 mins i still found it kinda boring in parts.

Gore Videos / Man stabbed to death and left to die.

The action starts at the 20 sec mark when a bloke on a motorbike rear-ends another.
He then repeatedly stabs the man and drives off.

Green book. 2018.
3/10Of all the 'Best Pic noms 2019' for the 'Oscars' this was the only one that i thought i had a shot at watching all the way thru.
Didn't happen. I got an hour in to it and turn it off, flicked thru it on my laptop the next day and was glad that i did stop it.
It was co-written, directed by Peter Farrelly who directed Kingpin in '96 which is it good film, then a list of, really just braindead comedies.
Look them up.
It still had that element of stupidness to it, just in a mature form. The story was nice but really fucken simple.

Perfect Blue 1997. Japan.
9/10
I got an overdubbed version which was fine. The story is a 'pop singer' from a manufactured group is trying to make it as an actress.
Anime isn't something iv watched alot of, but this didn't have any fantastical creatures in it. The film is a psychological horror that does get fairly complicated in the last 30 mins. But it does it with a clear purpose. Strange film, but very engaging and not a simplistic pile of shit.
Like Green book.

The eyes of my mother. 2016.
10/10
A 76min black and white horror about a woman and her desire not to be alone.
Some of the best horrors are debut films, this is another example. Spoken in portuguese and english its a simple film with a limited cast that tells the story of a young girl/woman.
The composition of the scenes was thought out as to be disturbing without being stupidly gorey, the plot with the central character was sad but chilling. The B/W was a great touch as most of it was set at night.
